Dear all,

We have just passed the Lancaster Sound in the North of Canada which marks the success of our sailing expedition aboard Baloum Gwen. Within 3 months, we have completed the crossing from West (Alaska) to East (Baffin Island) of the mythical icy Northwest Passage by sailing about 4750 km. The doors of the Arctic Ocean were open for us to admire & observe its charms, colours & threats. Its Kingdom is certainly extreme, unpredictable (icy winds, frequent fog, bad visibility, unexpected growlers…) but so stunning & fascinating!

Through its website www.arcticcalling.net, International Polar Organisation Arctic05 & myself are taking here the opportunity to thank you again for your precious support & interest when followingd this challenge. The objective of my project with code name Arctic Calling was to cover live, via satellite, this expedition & share with you during the whole adventure: - my Polar observations & pictures of the wonderful Arctic wildlife, - educational reports via your favourite kids website www.kidcity.be , - the ups & downs of sailboat Baloum Gwen & its crew along at sea in the Arctic Ocean, - the unforgotable moments shared with the Aleouts & Inuits of Alaska, Canada & Nunavut, - and understand how our nature fundamentaly deserves far more respect & actions by us to preserve it… Let’s hope this expedition has brought you closer to the wonderful beautyof the nature in such extreme regions! Arctic05 has been sending each week breaking news to Belga’s Press Agency in order to inform the Press & Media of the evolution of this attempt. Discover very soon on the Belga Pictures website, several shots of the expedition!

On behalf of Arctic05, I would like to thank the locals & villages for their hospitality, their curiosity towards our presence & to have shared with us their way of life & culture. Many thanks to all Arctic05’s faithfull visitors & to those who have been helping & supporting me to succeed this sports, human & personal challenge. Again, thanks to the team which invested so much of their summer time to follow intensively my project www.arcticcalling.net . Sincere thanks to all Arctic05’s partners who gave me all their material support along the project “Arctic Calling”: ITS (great sailing parka jacket), Kokatat (so high quality expedition dry suit), Oakley (great sunglasses UV high tech), Bridgedale (thermal efficient socks)…Thanks too to Golf Club La Bruyère, CO2Logic, Physical Golden Club & Wanabe for their constant support towards Arctic05’s website & newsletters. Thanks to my sailing team mates to have shared with me their passion & world.

As of next week, you may follow under www.arctic05.org my new Polar projects, new pictures of this magnificent experience, as well you can drop your messages & questions on Arctic05’s Interactive Forum.

All the very best - thanks again to all - via satellite from the Arctic Ocean, patrick
